"Monarchess" by Łukasz Koniuszy
This was my first aquatint etching that I was technically content with. Interacting with the infant are the jellyfish and the Belladonna flower, a couple of the most dangerous yet beautiful things on the planet. It talks to the vulnerability of the young mind to the positive and negative forces in the world. The almost hollow demeanor of the infant represents how impressionable humans are at such a young age but how we can eventually grow to be as deceptively dangerous as a deadly jellyfish or flower.
This print is part of an ongoing series of images which deal with the complexity of motion in day to day life which often goes unnoticed. This image shows the movement of a hand flicking open and lighting a lighter.
